Black Bottle is one of Australia's most recognised brandies, with a legacy that began with Thomas Hardy in the 1880s — he predicted Australian brandy could equal French cognac, and a century later Black Bottle won gold against Cognacs at a Melbourne judging. The distinctive black Four Star bottle has been in circulation since around 1950 and, like the double pot-distilled brandy inside it, has altered little since.

Classic Brandy is the everyday benchmark — smooth, double pot-distilled and made for mixing or sipping. Very Special Australian Brandy (VSAB) is richer and more layered, blending traditionally aged double pot-distilled brandy with lifted single pot-distilled parcels matured in French and American oak. XO is the pinnacle: eighteen-year-old spirit forms the base, with parcels up to forty years old blended in for depth, giving aged toasty oak, raisin, fig, cinnamon, hazelnut and a long dark-chocolate finish.
